TERMS AND CONDITIONS
ADRIFT AT ISLAND BEACH
TO SECURE YOUR BOOKING
Your booking will be held for 5 business days.
To confirm your booking, a deposit of 50% of the total cost of your stay must be paid, together with a security bond of $500. The balance is to be paid 60 days before arrival. Payment of this amount will be treated as acceptance by you of these terms and conditions, and form a binding contract.
BOND
The bond is designed to cover the cost of repairing any damage or breakages, additional cleaning fees, or other breaches of these terms and conditions (including for example, having more guests than declared at the time of booking. Your bond will be credited back to your designated bank account by EFT within 48 hours of your departure, provided the property is left in a neat, tidy and undamaged state, and no other breach of these conditions has occurred.
CANCELLATIONS
We will not charge you any cancellation fee if you advise us in writing of your intention to cancel more than 60 days prior to your booked arrival date. (All monies paid will be refunded to you within 3 business days).
If a cancellation is made between 30 and 60 days we will charge a cancellation fee of 50% of the total charge for your stay (Your security bond will be refunded in full).
Cancellations made less than 30 days before your booked arrival date will be charged at 100% of the total payment required (Security bond refunded in full).
If you pay a deposit, but then fail to pay the balance due on time, we will give you a reminder. If you do not make the payment required within a further 3 business days, we will treat this as a cancellation and cancellation fees stated above will apply.
If we secure a replacement booking for Adrift for the cancelled dates for the same number of people, the normal cancellation fee will be waived and any monies held by us will be returned to you (less any re-advertising costs or other expenses reasonably incurred by us).
No refunds are available if one (or more) of your nominated number of guests is unable to stay at the property or decides to depart early.
PAYMENTS
EFT or cheque only. We do not take credit cards. We will send to you by email a separate document “Directions to Adrift” once your final payment is received.
LINEN
We supply all the linen, sheets, pillow cases, quilts and spare pillows.
Bathroom towels are provided for each person.
Tea towels and hand towels are provided.
Please bring your own beach towels.
OCCUPANCY
You are permitted to occupy our house for the duration of your booking. However, please note that any seriously damaging, disruptive or illegal behavior may result in us requiring you to vacate the property immediately.
CHECK IN TIME – not before 3pm on the day of arrival. We ask that you DO NOT ARRIVE any earlier to enable our cleaner sufficient time to prepare the property for you.
CHECK OUT TIME – no later than 11.00am on the day of departure. Housecleaners need to access the property to ensure it is ready for the after guests’ arrival. Early check-in or late check-out times can sometimes be negotiated. Please ask us well in advance. (We can offer lots of ideas for things to do if you expect to arrive early.)
KEYS AND LOCALITY ADDRESS
Once your final payment has been made we will send to you an email entitled “Directions to Adrift”, which will give you details of how to get there, and where to find the keys. It’s only a short 15 minute drive from the Ferry (at Penneshaw) to Adrift.
CLEANING
We ask that you vacate the property as you found it, in a clean and tidy condition, including dishes washed and put away, BBQ clean and rubbish in the bins provided. It is not necessary to make beds, or to clean the floors or wet areas. If the property is left in unacceptable state requiring more cleaning than normal, we will charge any additional cleaning at $75 per hour, and we will deduct this from your bond.
DAMAGE/BREAKAGE
We accept that accidents sometimes occur. If something is damaged or broken, please let us know by phone as soon as possible. That way we can rectify the problem for our next guests. (We reserve the right to deduct costs for breakage or other loss or damage from your bond.) You are requested not to move furniture around. Please do not take indoor furniture outdoors, and vice versa.
PARTIES AND FUNCTIONS
Parties and functions for large numbers of people are not allowed (unless arranged with us in advance).
PETS
Unless specifically agreed with us in advance, no pets are allowed.
WATER
Adrift runs exclusively on rainwater contained in our three rainwater tanks. Please be mindful of this and use water sparingly.
RUBBISH DAY
Rubbish collection day is Friday. Please do not leave food or rubbish in garbage bags on the street as wild life may explore these bags and be injured.
THEFT AND LOSS
Island Beach is a very safe place, but please use ordinary care to protect your valuables, as we cannot be responsible for any loss in this regard.
UNAVAILABILITY OF THE PROPERTY
We will make every effort to ensure that Adrift will be available to you on the dates booked. However, in the event of unforeseen events or circumstances beyond our control, we accept no responsibility for the cost to you of any modified travel or accommodation plans, or any other fees, charges or losses which you may incur. Our liability will be limited to a full refund to you of all monies paid by you up to that time.
NO SMOKING
There is strictly no smoking allowed inside the house. If you wish to smoke outside, please respect the fact that Island Beach is an extreme Fire Risk Zone. Please ensure cigarette butts are fully extinguished (use the ashtrays provided in the linen cupboard in the laundry). Please do not throw butts onto the ground, or off the balconies, and into the bush.
BUSHFIRES/EMERGENCIES
We provide our guest with a list of telephone numbers to use in the event of emergency. If in doubt, always dial 000.
If a bushfire threatens the area, follow the directions and advice of the CFS (Country Fire Service) officers and police.
On days of extreme fire danger, some National parks on the Island may be closed, so always check before heading out.
It is NOT your responsibility to protect our house, or its contents, from an approaching fire.
Make sure you and your family remain safe, as your sole priority. This may mean evacuating to the beach, or driving to a safe haven – please follow the instructions provided by CFS and Police, and check for media reports on the latest situation.
If there is a fire internally, use the fire extinguisher (stored in the laundry cupboard) or the kitchen fire blanket (stored on the top shelf in the pantry), PROVIDED IT IS SAFE TO DO SO.
